NeuCyte is a preclinical stage biotech company that focuses on developing treatments for patients suffering from neurological disorders. We develop translatable cell-based assays for modelling neuro-related disorders using patient-derived and genetically engineered neural cell types to discover novel therapeutics. Based on our SynFire®technology, our proprietary human neural in vitro platforms assess complex electrophysiological and morphological readouts suited for phenotypic screening, target identification and validation, as well as drug efficacy testing.

What we're looking for: 

NeuCyte is seeking a highly motivated Team Leader for our cell production team. The role encompasses management of cell production for neuronal and glial cells derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells as well as process development for stem cell engineering and human neuronal cell culture. The successful candidate should have a strong background in stem cell techniques and in all aspects of tissue culture. He/She will work in a highly interactive team environment and be responsible for QA, QC, process development, and scaling of operations. With a vision for team building, process optimization and automation, this position will critically contribute to the success of NeuCyte’s drug discovery platform.

   
What you’ll do:

• Lead the production, maintenance, banking, and QC of human iPSC lines, and cell types derived from them, including induced neurons and glia

• Lead the implementation of protocol optimization, scaling, automation

• Implement QA and QC processes

• Develop a vision for growth of NeuCyte’s cell production platform

• Oversee general tissue culture activities, documentation, equipment maintenance, supplies/consumables stocks, compliance of procedures with biosafety and other relevant regulations

• Lead the recruitment and training of staff, and foster team building

• Interface with scientists of NeuCyte’s drug discovery platform for assessment of needs, planning, and budgeting related to cell production

• Liaise with cross-functional teams at NeuCyte and provide the leadership and services necessary for productivity and high quality of research based on NeuCyte’s cell technology. 

• Work with Sales and Marketing to determine and update product configuration and related documentation for external distribution

 

Required: 

• ​Ph.D. and 5+ years, or M. S. and 10+ years of relevant experience in Biology or equivalent.

• Deep expertise with human pluripotent stem cell techniques

• Experience in process development, scaling, automation in a cell culture/production environment is a plus

• Background in neuroscience or related area is a plus

• Track record for team leadership and training of staff

• Outstanding planning, organizational, and documentation skills.

• Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills to work in a cross-functional team and to communicate well with staff at all levels.
