NeuCyte is an early stage biotechnology company that focuses on developing treatments for those suffering from neurological and neurodegenerative disorders. We develop translatable cell-based assays for modeling neuro related disorders using patient-derived and genetically engineered neural cell types to discover novel therapeutics. Based on our SynFire® technology, our proprietary human neural in vitro platforms assess complex electrophysiological and morphological readouts suited for target identification and validation, as well as drug efficacy testing.

What we’re looking for:

NeuCyte is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate / Senior Research Associate to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will support cell engineering efforts and the development of human cellular model systems for drug discovery. The position requires strong background in tissue culture techniques, including working with human pluripotent stem cells, as well as broad knowledge of general molecular and cell biology methods.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in generation and engineering of human pluripotent stem cell models for neurological disorders

  • Characterize cell lines and perform QC assays according to established protocols

  • Assist in development of protocols for differentiation of stem cell-derived cell types, including neuronal subtypes and other CNS cells

  • Lead documentation and management of our cell bank and associated inventories and data repositories 

  • Participate in protocol development, scaling, implementation, optimization

  • Independently perform standard molecular biology work including DNA cloning, qPCR, western blot, transient transfections and similar

  • Help with day-to-day laboratory duties

  • Interact across teams and levels in a cross-functional biotech environment

  • May perform other duties as needed

 

Required:

  • BSc with 5+ years or MSc with 3+ years of relevant industry experience in molecular and cellular biology, or related areas 

  • Hands-on experience with culture of human pluripotent stem cells 

  • Strong organizational skills and an ability for multitasking

Preferred:

  • Experience with genome editing techniques

  • Experience in the field of neuroscience and neurological disorders 

  • Background in assay development in an industry setting
